Time and Accomplishments

Afterwards, we came to refer to certain types of accomplishments as “black triangles.” These are important accomplishments that take a lot of effort to achieve, but upon completion you don’t have much to show for it – only that more work can now proceed. I laughed as I read that this morning. I’ve been thinking that most of what I’ve done in the last 12 years are black triangles, important, foundational pieces of learning and design. Those black triangles of mine haven’t left me with much I can show, but they are the basis of everything I’m working on at the moment.
That someone had coined a phrase for it makes me happy. It’s a good way to start the morning.
