My personal belief is that the iPad will inspire people to become programmers. The more mainstream apps are, and the more beautiful they are, the more people will start to think about them and get excited about them the way the iPhone originally excited me. The world of programming is no more neurotic than the world of fashion design, and it’s leagues less neurotic than the world of film, but two of those are socially acceptable and one’s regarded as a black mark. I think that if anything’s going to change that, having a beautiful computer with beautiful programs will.
